Sproat lake is a large, beautiful lake located west of Port
Alberni on Vancouver Island about 20 minutes towards Tofino
(see our map).
Little known because it
has few public facilities, this is one of British Columbia's
warmest lakes and perfect for all water sports. Even though
about 2500 residents live on the lake (some in very sumptuous
houses), the majority of the foreshore is uninhabited and
lined by beaches and douglas fir forest.
The water is clean, clear,
deep and drinkable. The lake has a provincial park, boat launch,
a small pub, a store with gas dock and a beer and wine outlet.
The Port Alberni water ski club runs clinics throughout the
summer. In the morning and early afternoon the water is usually
flat calm and very good for boating and skiing. In the late
afternoon there is an often predictable breeze which is good
for wind surfing and sailing.
The property has two double kayaks and a row boat for the use of our guests. If guests wish to bring their own boat or rent one, there is ample tie up space at the dock.
The
cabin is very new and completely furnished and equipped with
all the necessary and discretionary amenities including duvets,
and fresh flowers (depending on the season).
The cabin has two bedrooms,
one with a queen size bed and the other with a double bed
with a single bunk above. The hot tub and sauna have a view
to please any connoisseur. Our property has been described
as better than a "five star hotel".
